FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do you differentiate between therapy and "consultations"?

In my practice, I like to differentiate between those people whom I see in short-term or long-term therapy, and those people who come to me to work through a situational issue that might not need a full therapeutic approach. In these "consultations," I access all the tools and techniques I use in therapy, but with the understanding that the conversation may not go further than one or two sessions. Sometimes consultations lead to short term or long term therapy, but this is not always the case. Often consultations will be a better fit for people who have already been in therapy with me in the past, or in other instances that I will help identify for my clients.

How do I know if therapy is a good fit for me?

This is a question we can answer together. In the first couple of sessions we explore not only if therapy will be a good fit for you, but also if we are a good match in terms of accomplishing your desired outcomes. While you will have your own intuition about whether or not we are an appropriate fit, years of experience have enabled me to work with and adapt to different clients. All you have to do is be yourself.

Do you accept insurance?

While I don't accept insurance directly, I can provide you will all the necessary paperwork, which makes submitting reimbursement forms to your providers fairly seamless.

How do you charge?

In order to accommodate my clients, I work on a siding scale that is based on the need and ability of the client to pay. I can discuss those pricing options with my patients in advance of the first session. Please call me to inquire further.

How long do sessions last?

Each therapy session lasts about 50 minutes. Initial evaluation sessions may be longer.

How often do I have to come in?

This really depends on the client, and I will work in partnership with you to determine the best schedule for your needs. I see some clients as frequently as a couple times a week, and others I see as infrequently as once a month. It all depends on what you are addressing in therapy and your goals for being in therapy.

Do I have to come into the office?

I prefer to meet with my clients in person, but if you cannot make it into the office, I am happy to arrange for a phone session.
